Jeffrey L. Soyer

Jeffrey L. Soyer, age 45, of Glidden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with Fr. Andrew Hoffman as celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 3:30 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Rosary held at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. by the parish. Lector for the mass will be Judy Blessington. Eucharistic Ministers will be Shelley Soyer and Donna Kinnick. Mass servers will be Jason Grossman and Tanner Headlee. Gift Bearers will be Rose Quinlan, Tom Soyer, and Lynda Humlicek. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his cousins: Justin Pluckhahn, Scott Soyer, Brian Blessington, Chris Soyer, Sean Soyer, Justin Soyer, Jon Soyer, and Brent Soyer. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill Kunecke, Adam Kohler, Bob VanScoy, and Tony Janssen. Born on October 27, 1966 at Carroll, Iowa, and was the son of Larry and Elaine (Pluckhahn) Soyer. He grew up in Glidden and graduated from Glidden – Ralston High School in 1986. Following high school he attended and graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute in Des Moines and earned a degree in Diesel Mechanics. Following college he moved back to Glidden and farmed. He was married to Pamela Sabus on August 16, 1997. Jeff was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden . He served on the Glidden Volunteer Fire Department for several years. Jeff’s passion was stock car and modified car racing and tractor pulling. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He had served as president of the ICAP Iowa Central Antique Tractor Puller’s Association. He was a devoted and loving father to his children. Surviving are his children: Lacey Soyer of Carroll and Nathan Soyer of Glidden; two step-children: Amber Larsen and her husband Mike of Des Moines and Tanner Samento and his wife Courtney of Des Moines; his parents Larry and Elaine Soyer of Glidden; five step-grandchildren: Kylie, Blake, Sophia, Mia, and Raylynn; his paternal grandmother Eleanor Soyer of Glidden; a sister Jen Sibbitt and her husband Ken of Rinard, Iowa; his former wife and friend Pamela Soyer of Glidden; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jeff was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Wilbur and Florence Pluckhahn and his paternal grandfather Joseph Soyer.
