Janis Rita Kastle

Janis Rita Kastle, age 72, of Lidderdale, IA, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA, surrounded by her family.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Jim Bruch as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be Becky Halbur.  Music for the Mass will be by Marcy Andersen as pianist and Kathleen Macke as Cantor.  Eucharistic minister will be Dale Huegerich.  Honorary gift bearers will be her great-grandchildren.  Casket bearers will be Steve Huegerich, Justin Huegerich, Mike Huegerich, Tim Huegerich, Chad Ross, and Bob Shields.  Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday.  Additional visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home from 9:30 A.M. until 10:15 A.M. on Thursday.

Those in attendance at Janis’ visitation and Mass are asked to abide by Covid-19 social distancing guidelines and facemasks are required at the funeral home and at the church.

Janis was born on August 11, 1948 in Carroll, IA, and was the daughter of Henry and Genevieve (Grossman) Huegerich.  She grew up on her family’s farm south of Lidderdale and graduated from Kuemper High School in in 1966.  Janis was married to David Kastle on November 1, 1969 in Carroll, IA.  The couple made their home on the Kastle family farm north of Lidderdale where they raised their family and farmed side by side.  Janis was a lifelong member of Holy Family Parish in Lidderdale, and she was a member of the Holy Family Rosary Society.   Janis enjoyed gardening, flowers, puzzles, canning, traveling with Gary, and spending time with her family.

Janis is survived by two daughters Julie Schroeder (Craig) of rural Carroll; Jen Arkland (Jerry) of Carroll; two sons: Lonnie Kastle and Buck Kastle both of rural Carroll; her best friend Gary Klocke of rural Carroll; ten grandchildren: Cassie (Mitch), Heather, Sam, Allison, Sydney, Sara, Javid, Amber, Juniper, and Beckett; two great-grandchildren: Melodie and Walker; her siblings: Kenny Huegerich (Judy) of Carroll, Dale Huegerich (Mary Ann) of Exira, Margaret Grant of Lidderdale, Karen Brigman of North Carolina, and Sandy Gardels of Delaware; a brother-in-law Daru Ross of Carroll; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Genevieve Huegerich; her father and mother-in-law Jack and Selma Kastle; her husband David Kastle in 1998, a brother Dennis Huegerich, and a sister Eileen Ross.
