Janice Elaine Kraft

Janice Elaine Kraft, 79, of Bayard, Iowa passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, Iowa surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 10:30 A.M. at Highland Township Cemetery south of Bayard, Iowa. The honorary casket bearers will be Grandsons: Justin Wurr, Colten Wurr, Jake Hurd; Nephews: Jack Colbert, Lance Kraft, Flint Christensen, Charles Webb, Kevin Baumhover, Kurt Schlatter, Jr Klocke, and Tim Baden.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids, Iowa.

Janice was born April 25, 1945 in Carroll, Iowa and was the daughter of Jesse and Verna (Dillinger) Colbert. She attended Bayard Community Schools and graduated with the High School Class of 1963. On June 11, 1966 she was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Eldon Kraft. They made their home in Bayard and they were blessed with two children, Brian and Denise. Janice and Eldon enjoyed tending to their large vegetable garden and canned a lot of the produce they reaped. They also loved bird watching together for many years. She was employed at the Bayard Nursing and Rehab Center in housekeeping for over 25 years until it closed. Janice was an avid sports fan and could often find her cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones, Iowa Hawkeyes, and especially enjoyed watching college softball. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing Candy Crush on her tablet and watching General Hospital.

Janice is survived by her son Brian Kraft of Coon Rapids, IA; daughter Denise (Bruce) Blackford of Coon Rapids, IA; 3 grandsons: Justin (Rachael) Wurr of Altoona, IA, Colten Wurr of Coon Rapids, IA, and Jake Hurd (Lena Carlson) of Rhinelander, WI; brother, Jerry (Karen) Colbert of Coon Rapids, IA; sisters-in-law: Trudy Colbert of Coon Rapids, IA, Kay Colbert of Arcadia, IA, Ramona Kraft of Burlington, IA, and Dana Christensen of Bayard, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Janice is preceded in death by her husband Eldon Kraft in 2010; her parents; her in -laws, Lyle and Bernice Kraft; brothers, Jim Colbert and Jack Colbert; brothers-in-law: Floyd Gene Kraft, Clair Kraft, and Fred Christensen.
