Janice R. Houghtaling

Janice “Jan” R. Houghtaling, age 86, of Coon Rapids passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids, IA surrounded by her family.

Private family services will be held with burial in Bethania Cemetery in Rosholt, SD.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Born on April 26, 1932 in Rockham, SD, she was the daughter of  Oliver and Anne (Michels) Pesha.  On September 4, 1949 she married Clyford  Houghtaling in Redfield, SD.  She was the city finance officer in Rosholt, SD until she retired in 2006 and moved to Watertown, SD.  In May of 2017 she moved to Parkview Assisted living in Coon Rapids, IA.

Jan is survived by three children: Char Schlepp of Coon Rapids, IA, Carolyn Busta (Dan) of Watertown, SD, and Curt Houghtaling (Heidi) of Elk River, MN; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a sister Carol Wagner of Apple Valley, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Anne Pesha, her husband Clyford in 2004, two sisters: Lois Miller and JoAnn Blaedorn, a son Donnie Houghtaling in 2016, a grandson Adam Houghtaling in 2012, and a son-in-law Brad Schlepp in 2012.
