Jane Jacobsen Franzwa, 94, passed away April 13, 2010 at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, AZ.
Funeral services will be held at The First Presbyterian Church in Glidden at 11:00 am on Friday, April 30, 2010, with Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Born April 20, 1915, in Harlan, Iowa, she was the daughter of Chris Jacobsen and Ruth Koolbeck Jacobsen. Mrs. Franzwa graduated from high school in Arcadia, Iowa in 1933 and from Chillocothe Business School in Chillocothe, Missouri in 1935. On May 2, 1944, she was united in marriage with Frederick W. Franzwa, and the couple made their home in Glidden. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and retired as an employee of the Farmers Cooperative Co. in Glidden. She was a nearly 50-year member of The First Presbyterian Church, and after moving to Tucson in 1986, was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Franzwa is survived by her daughter Candace F. Johnson (Charles) of Tucson; granddaughter Sarah S. Johnson of New York City; sister Frances (Bette) E. Swenson of Tucson; two stepsons, Frederick A. Franzwa of Rochester, New York, and Sterling S. Franzwa (Anastasia) of Glidden; and a number of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband in 1959; parents; twin sister, Janet Nelson; sister Margaret Klitgaard; stepchildren Suzanne Cronk and Gregory Franzwa; and numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law. She is missed by her large and loving family.
