James Donald Stevens, age 59, of Carroll was received into his Savior’s arms with a "Well done thy good and faithful Servant" on Friday, June 24, 2016 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Carroll First Assembly of God Church with Pastor David Schaal officiating. Music for the service will be by Bill and Molly Benson with Abby Murrane as soloist. Casket bearers will be Paul Espenhover, Tom Espenhover, Adam Espenhover, Steve Naberhaus, Doug Weitl and Dave Daniels. Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery near Ralston. Friends may call at the Carroll First Assembly of God Church after 5 P.M. on Monday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will resume at the church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Jim was born on April 15, 1957 in Carroll, Iowa, to parents Marvin and Helen (Masching) Stevens. Jim grew up on the farm outside of Templeton and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1975. Jim started installing floor covering for Carpet & Linoleum Services in high school. Jim began his own installation business in 1983. Jim was passionate about his work for 42 years. He loved the relationships he established with his clients. Jim’s servant heart was apparent in many areas of his life; serving as needed at his church and on mission trips to Latvia and Honduras. Jim enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and playing cards with his family & friends. Jim especially enjoyed following his children’s events throughout the years. He was their biggest cheerleader. He enjoyed his morning coffee runs with his faithful companion Oakley. Jim’s first priority was spending time with and taking care of his family. Jim is survived by his wife Kay of Carroll; two daughters: Kelsey Heese of Omaha and Haley Stevens of Carroll; five sons: Scott Stevens(Lacey) of Moorland, Will Stevens (Brittany) of West Bend, Kyle Stevens of Sioux City, Tristan Heese of Carroll, and Peter Stevens of Carroll; his mother Helen Stevens of Carroll; four grandchildren; four sisters: Connie Riesselman (Mike) of Willey, JoAnn Klocke (Mike) of Coon Rapids, Sherry Zaruba of Waukee, and Susie Frank (Steve) of Carroll; two brothers: Bob Stevens (Darlene) of Yuma, AZ, and John Stevens (Mary Lou) of Templeton; brothers-in-law Kurt Pauley (Suzie) of Farragut and Arnold Haynes of Hancock; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by his father Marvin, a sister Kathleen Haynes, and a granddaughter Ava Stevens.
