James Virgil Lhotka, age 74, of Carroll passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Brian Camara officiating. Friends may call after 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll until the time of service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Jim’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Jim was born on June 10, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of Virgil and Geraldine (Hagemeier) Lhotka. Jim’s family moved to Iowa when he was a young boy and lived in Denison. They moved to Carroll in the early 1950’s where his father owned and operated Lhotka Hardware Store. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1961 and attended the University of Minnesota. He was married to Karen Siepker on February 27, 1965 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple lived Brainerd, MN, where he worked as a police officer. In the late 1970’s they moved back to Carroll to raise their family and Jim worked several jobs including the Carroll Comm. Center and did private investigation work for a local attorney. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to coffee with his friends, and spending time with his family. Jim is survived by a daughter Tina Lhotka of Baxter, MN; two sons: Jim Lhotka of Hutchinson, MN, and Jason Lhotka (Jodi) of Carroll; three grandchildren: Domanique Lhotka, Amber Lhotka, and Megan Lhotka all of Carroll; a brother Jerry Lhotka (Pat) of Young America, MN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim loved his faithful cat Tank. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Geraldine Lhotka and a sister Dona Rossi.
