James Biggerstaff

April 23, 1950 — June 9, 2014

James (Jim) Edward Biggerstaff, age 64, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on June 9, 2014 after a long battle with prostate cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rod Roberts officiating. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening. Pianist for the service will be Trish Roberts. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Anthony Hospice or the Infusion Center at St. Anthony Regional Hospital and may be left at the funeral home. Jim was born on April 23, 1950 to Lester and Crystal (Baird) Biggerstaff in Burlington, IA. He was raised in Morning Sun, IA on the family farm. Jim married Tami Ann Mosser on May 3, 1980. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Tara and Marissa. Jim and Tami moved to Carroll in 1984. Jim enjoyed a 38 year career with the railroad. He started with Chicago and North Western Railroad and retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 2010. In his spare time and retirement he enjoyed bass fishing, pheasant hunting with friends and his dog, and trap and skeet shooting. He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and family. He is survived by his wife Tami (Mosser) Biggerstaff of Carroll. a daughter Tara (Cory) Elkin of Waukee, IA – granddaughters Coral, Shaelyn and Michelle and step-granddaughters Ireland and Adrianna Elkin; a daughter Marissa (Jake) Brown of Winterset, IA – granddaughter Nora Jo; his siblings: Joyce (Jack) Allen of Lakewood, CA, Margaret Biggerstaff of St. Paul, MN, Leonard Biggerstaff and Bob Schlinke of Raleigh, NC, David Biggerstaff of Norwalk, IA and Carla (Jeff) Allsop of Brookfield, WI; and several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
