Irene Marian (Kasperbauer) Fowler, age 79, of Carroll passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Hawkeye Care Center in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Sheryl Vonnahme. Gift Bearers will be Peg Vaughn and Kasey Lau. Casket bearers will be Eric Dillavou, Elizabeth Stacey, Amy Dillavou, Lucas Clark, Terry Axman, Bill Axman, Alan Perry, and Dan Broich. Music will be by the Holy Spirit Choir with Barb McDermott as organist. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. followed by a Rosary. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 1:00 P.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass. Born on December 1, 1938 in Carroll, IA, Irene was the daughter of Fred and Anna (Sterner) Kasperbauer. She grew up in Dedham and attended St. Joseph’s School as a girl and graduated from Carroll High School. She was married to Harold H. Fowler on September 23, 1955 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. Harold was in the United States Navy and the couple lived in several locations during his military service. Upon his retirement from the Navy, Harold and Irene moved back to Carroll. Irene worked at Ocoma Foods, Tony’s Restaurant, and she was an Avon Lady for over 38 years. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Carroll American Legion Auxiliary. Irene enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, going to coffee with her friends and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Irene is survived by her two daughters Ruth Dillavou (Kevin) of Carroll and Kelly Vaughn (Bill) of Nashua; five grandchildren Troy Dillavou of Carroll, Eric Dillavou (Rebekah) of York, NE, Amy Dillavou of Carroll, David Paul (Laney) of Altoona, and Michael Fowler (Courtney) of Prague, MN; great grandchildren Elizabeth Stacey, Kasey Lau, Harmaney Conrad, Cameron Fowler, Perseis Tovar, and Leilani Tovar; two sisters Freda Axman (Russell) of Dedham and Sharon Grote of Fonda; and several nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by parents Fred and Anna Kasperbauer; her mother and father-in-law Gertrude Lamphart and Elvin Fowler; her husband Harold H. Fowler in 2015; her son Larry Fowler in 2011; a sister Rita Morris (Charles); a brother Wolfred at age 4; a sister-in-law Doris Larson; a brother-in-law Anthony Grote; a daughter-in-law Pam Paul; and two nephews Clint and Travis Grote.
