N. Ione McDonald passed away on Monday, January 21, 2008 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll at age 88. Ione was born June 28, 1919, at Paton, Iowa to William Mundt and Elizabeth Johnson Mundt. Ione graduated in 1936 from Paton High School. She attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines on a basketball scholarship and later attended DMCC on the Boone campus. She married Harold McDonald September 25, 1938, at Grand Junction, Iowa. Ione moved with her husband to Scranton, Iowa, and lived on a farm where she raised her family. Ione loved animals and had a life-long love of horses. She also took great pride in her flocks of chickens. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and a past member of Eastern Star. Ione is survived by her daughter Carol and husband Lynn of Red Feather Lakes, Colorado; daughter Danene (Danni) and husband Jim of Polk City, Iowa; and son Dale of Scranton, Iowa; grandchildren Deanna McDonald, Bart McDonald, Scott McDonald, Tracy Monthei Neighbors, Tonja Monthei Rector, Tony Monthei, Nicki McDonald Montes, Marty McDonald, and Dusty McDonald. Ione was preceded in death by her parents, Harold McDonald, son Jerald McDonald, grandson Brad Monthei, sisters Joyce Christensen, Roberta Griffin, and infant sister Wanda Fern Mundt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton with Rev. Brent De silva officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton from 1:00 P.M. on Thursday until the time of service. Burial will be in the Paton Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Marty McDonald, Dusty McDonald, Bart McDonald, Katlin McDonald, Dale McDonald, and Carl Christian. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com
