Hilda M Schroeder

Hilda M. Schroeder, age 92, of Carroll, Iowa, died at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll on April 3, 2009. She was born on August 9, 1916 at Roselle, Iowa and was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Harberl) Steffes. As a young girl she attended Holy Angels School in Roselle. She was married to Belton Schroeder and he died in 1975. In her working years she had worked at a California hospital and her last job before retirement was apartment manager for the Carrollton Apts. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, playing cards and gardening. Surviving are three sons: Vernus Schroeder of Maple River; Ronald Schroeder and his wife Phyllis of Carroll; and Elroy Schroeder and his wife Linda of Stanton, California; three grandsons: Matt Schroeder and his wife Lisa of Jefferson, Martin Schroeder and his wife Kay of Lohrville, Matt Schroeder and his wife Danette of Anaheim, California, a step grand daughter Deb Osborn of Darien, Illinois, and a step grandson Craig Osborn and his wife Kelly of Burlington. Also surviving are the following great grandchildren: Evan, Kara, and Amie Schroeder of Jefferson, Justin and Brandy Schroeder, and Zach Brumbaugh of Lohrville, Tatum, Tanner, and Trevor Schroeder of California, and Andrew, McKenzie, and Madison Osborn of Burlington; five sisters: Irene Ertz and her husband Leo of Manning; Betty Wittrock of Carroll; Flossie Kokenge of Carroll; Bernice Irlmeier of Carroll; Tootie Wernimont and her husband Leo of Fonda; a brother Lawrence Steffes of Carroll and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Lucille Galloway, a brother Norbert Steffes, and a grandson Mark Schroeder. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday April 7, 2009 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Rev. Tim Johnson as celebrant. Burial will be in the Holy Angels Cemetery at Roselle. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a Christian Wake service by Holy Spirit Parish at 7:00 P.M..
