Helen Textor

Helen Catherine Textor, age 90, of Winona, Minnesota, formerly of Carroll, passed away at the Lake Winona Manor nursing/rehabilitation center on November 12, 2011. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Schott as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian wake service at 6:00 P.M. by the parish. Lector for the Mass will be Helen’s daughter Julie Swank. Music for the Mass will be by Marcy Anderson. Gift bearers will be Helen’s Grandchildren. The St. Anthony Nurses Alumni Association will form an honor guard at the church. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Mike Schrad, Kevin Kreisel, Christopher Kreisel, and Josh Kreisel. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Born on May 30, 1921, she was the daughter of William and Anna Eich who farmed near Templeton, Iowa. Helen graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Templeton in 1938 and from the St. Anthony School of Nursing in 1942. She was employed many years by St. Anthony Regional Hospital retiring from a long nursing career at the age of 77. Helen took great pride in her work and had fond memories of working with the nurses from Africa and India who visited St. Anthony’s for additional training. She was an avid golfer, loved to play bridge and regularly volunteered to help with church and community events. Those left to honor her memory include her two daughters: Catherine (James) Kreisel of Winona, Minnesota and Julie (Larry) Swank of Eldridge, Iowa; five grandsons: Joshua (Tonia) Kreisel of Winona, Minnesota, Michael (Amy) Schrad of Broomfield, Colorado, Christopher (Raquel) Kreisel of St. Paul, Minnesota, David Schrad of Thornton, Colorado, and Kevin (Corrie Ann) Kreisel of Denver, Colorado; seven great-grandchildren: Jordan, Piper, Max, Joseph, Mattie, Sarah, and Steven; and a brother, Glen (Esther) Eich of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters-in-law, Leota Eich of Ogden, Iowa and Lucille Pingrey of Coon Rapids, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Dale Textor, two brothers, and one sister.
