Helen Louise Broookbank, age 80, passed away on Sunday, May 09, 2010 at Eventide Nursing Home in Denison.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Brian Licht of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Jan Hoff. Casket bearers will be Shelly Perez, Curtis Alcox, Christopher Beyerink, Michael Naberhaus, Chris Stanford, and Charles Stanford. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Born on October 31, 1929 northwest of Glidden, Iowa, she was the daughter of Richard and Elsie (Ritter) Heuton. She grew up in the Glidden area where she attended school. She was employed by the Garst and Thomas Company in Coon Rapids. She moved back to Glidden in 1954 where she raised her family. She was married to Clifford Edward Brookbank on December 31, 1947 at the home of his parents in Coon Rapids. The couple moved to Carroll in 1966. Helen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, cross word puzzles, embroidery, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Helen has lived at Eventide Nursing Home in Denison for the past three years and seven months.
Surviving are her daughters Linda Alcox (Harley) of Nevada, Iowa, and Barbara Pierce (Jerry) of Denison; a brother Robert Heuton of Palm Springs, California; four grandchildren: Shelly Perez (Raul) of Nevada, Iowa, Curtis Alcox (Christi) of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Bobbie Craig (Danny) of Denison, Tammie Naberhaus (Dave) of Denison; ten great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford, a son Ricky, a daughter Susan, five brothers: Irvin Heuton, Milford Heuton, Doyle Heuton, Russell Heuton, and Wendall Heuton, and two sisters Dorothy Hunt and Viola (Borrusch) Williams.
