Hazel Eleanor Daniels, age 96, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Carroll, died on Monday November 16, 2015 at Hawkeye Care Center in Spirit Lake. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Friends may call after 5 P.M on Friday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll, where there will be a Prayer service at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Ellen Severin. Interment will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday at the Westlawn Cemetery near Lehigh, Iowa. Casket Bearers will be Hazel’s grandchildren and spouses: Michelle and Brian Adams, Sean Daniels and Art Ortiz, Joseph and Ashlee Daniels, Trevor Daniels and Kira Hazen, Hunter Daniels and Whitney Johnson, Jacob and Nikki Daniels, and Elizabeth and Mitch Petersen.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left at the funeral home or at the church to be directed to the family for a later designation. Born on April 25, 1919 in Otho, Iowa, she was the daughter of Roy and Louise (Anderson) Hay, Sr. She grew up in Otho and graduated from Otho High School in 1937. She married Wayne Daniels on September 22, 1944. The couple lived in a very small farm house near Lehigh for several years. They moved to Council Bluffs in 1948 and to Carroll in 1968. Hazel was a homemaker and worked at a hardware store. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Community of Concern, Carroll County Historical Society, R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), United Methodist Women, F.L.C. Club, and N.A.R.F.E. Organization. Hazel also volunteered for many years at the New Hope Village Store. She enjoyed cooking, church functions, camping and spending time with her family. Hazel will always be remembered for her famous pies. Hazel is survived by four sons: Dennis Daniels and his wife Carol of Summerville, SC, Gary Daniels of Spirit Lake, John “Jack” Daniels and his wife Becky of Spirit Lake, and Charles “Chuck” Daniels and his wife Karey of Allen, TX; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Louise Hay, her sister Mildred Lamb, two brothers: Earl and Roy Hay, Jr., and her husband Wayne on May 14, 2015.
