Harold Neal Hellman born August 12, 1925 to Bernard and Magdalen Hellman of Bancroft, Iowa. Harold passed away peacefully at the Greene County Long term on August 25, 2011.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Grand Junction with Fr. Don Ries as Celebrant. Lector for the mass will be Joan Tiffany and music will be by Monica McGregor and Sheila Pound. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday until the time of service.
Harold was united in marriage to Marjorie Ayers Gilley on November 25, 1967. The couple lived in Grand Junction until Marjorie’s death in 2002. Shortly after Marjorie’s death Harold moved to Jefferson and had lived at Adam’s Court until last winter when he moved to the Regency Park Nursing Home and then to Greene County Medical Center Long-term Care Facility. Harold worked road construction for many years. He drove a large asphalt roller during most of his year in the road construction business. Harold enjoyed taking drives; going shopping and going out for lunch.
Harold was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Donald Hellman and sister Leona Hellman all of Bancroft, Iowa. His wife Marjorie in 2002; his grandson Tim Gilley; granddaughter Machell Fisher; and three great grandchildren, Blake Alan Fox, Pamela Fisher and Rachel Fisher; and his good friend and neighbor Verna Schumacher.
Harold is survived by his wife Marjorie’s children, Jim Gilley (Janice) of Grand Junction, Shirley Johnson of Norwalk, Donna Tourte (Larry) of Paton and Buck Gilley (Ilene) of Glendale, AZ; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
