Harley McNaught, age 61, of Glidden passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his home in Glidden.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Glidden with Rev. Lorinda Hoover officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden. The casket will be moved to the United Methodist Church in Glidden at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Mary Ross. Casket bearers will be Terry Augustus, Gary Schon, Dale Schon, Dave Copp, Lynn Stork, and Matt Beers. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Born Patrick Harley McNaught on July 11, 1953 in Des Moines he was the son of Garner and Jean (Sebern) McNaught. He grew in Glidden and graduated from Glidden-Ralston High School in 1971. He attended Iowa State University and then worked at Bauer Built Tire in Carroll. Harley was the pitcher for Mr. D’s slow pitch softball team in the 70’s and 80’s. He moved to Omaha in 1990 where he worked for Allied Oil and sold insurance for Farmers Insurance. He moved to San Antonio, TX in 2006 where he worked in auto sales and financing. Harley moved back to Glidden in October of 2014. He was inducted into the Iowa Slow Pitch Hall of Fame in 2004. Harley was an avid ISU football and basketball fan. He loved spending time with his family.
Harley is survived by a daughter Shelby Beers and her husband Matt of Omaha; three grandchildren: Natallye and Laryssa McNaught of San Antonio, TX and Avery Beers of Omaha; his fiancé Rebecca Erickson of Ames; his mother Jean McNaught of Glidden; a daughter-in-law Tanya McNaught of San Antonio, TX; several cousins and many good friends. Harley was preceded in death by his father Garner McNaught, a brother Michael, and a son Lance.
