Hailey Satterwhite

        Hailey Lynn Satterwhite, age 10, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Children’s Hospital in Omaha.      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher officiating.  Music for the service will be by Guy Somers and Nancy Davis.  Casket bearers will be her uncles: Matt, Eric, and Ben Satterwhite, her grandfather Lloyd Satterwhite, and her Dad Chris.  Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.      Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 - 7 P.M. on Tuesday evening.  The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of service.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Hailey’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com        In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Hailey’s name and memorials may be left with the funeral home or at the church.       Born on September 7, 2007 in Carroll, she was the daughter of Christopher and Jannelle (Bryan) Satterwhite.  Hailey had just finished the fourth grade at Adams Elementary and was in Mrs. Perrin’s class.  She was a vibrant 10 year old who loved collecting toys, playing video games, playing the guitar and taking lessons from Guy, going for motorcycle rides with her Dad, and playing with her little brother Connor.  In 2012, Hailey was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia and had a bone marrow transplant at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.  Her bone marrow donor was her brother Connor and the procedure was a success.  She began to experience health problems again in 2016.  She was diagnosed with Dyskeratosis Congenita, a genetic condition which affected her organs.  Her courageous battle ended peacefully on July 5, 2018 at Children’s Hospital in Omaha with her Mom and Dad at her side while awaiting a lung transplant.  Hailey was a happy and spunky girl who loved people and always had a smile on her face.      Hailey is survived by her parents Chris and Jannelle Satterwhite of Carroll; her brother Connor; her paternal grandparents Lloyd and Pam Satterwhite of Emmetsburg, Iowa;  her maternal grandparents Brad and Cathy Bryan of Urbana, Missouri; her paternal great-grandparents Edward and Joanne Tjemeland of Ft. Dodge and Ardith Satterwhite of Arkansas; her maternal great-grandparents Charles and Joanne Bryan of Avon, South Dakota; her  her aunts and uncles: Matt Satterwhite (Carlye) of Cumming, Iowa, Eric Satterwhite of Des Moines, Ben Satterwhite of Emmetsburg, Curtis Olsen (Caroline) of McMinnville, Tennessee, and Becky Bryan of Turman, Minnesota; and several cousins including Braxton and Maddux Satterwhite.
