Grace Mary (Hnizda) Stroh passed away September 8, 2008 at Calvin Community Care Center in Des Moines surrounded by her loving family. Grace was born November 13, 1918 in Duschene, Utah, and was a long time resident of Carroll. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen N. Stroh, former superintendent of Carroll Public Schools. She was a 1937 graduate of Peru State Teacher's College, Peru, Nebraska. Grace was an avid golfer and bridge player, and was active in Carroll civic and cultural organizations. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and P.E.O. Grace is survived by one daughter, Sally (Paul) Thielking of Urbandale, and three sons, Allen (Molly) Stroh of Iowa City, Steven (Kay) Stroh of Indianola, and Clifford (Kayla) Stroh of Clive; twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 1621 N. Main Street, Carroll, Iowa at 10:30 AM September 12, 2008, with burial at Carroll Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Dahn and Woodhouse funeral home, 705 N. Carroll Street, Carroll, where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Friday to lie in state until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Ellen Severin.
