Grace A. Heuton, age 82, of Clearwater, FL, and formerly of Glidden, IA, and Des Moines, IA, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010, at Mortan Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor David Bergstrom officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. She was born at home on May 24, 1928, the daughter of Harold and Florence (Hennen) Moorman. She graduated from Glidden High School. On December 22, 1946, she married Merle Heuton at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Glidden. They farmed and raised a son and a daughter in the Glidden area until moving to Des Moines in 1961.
While in Des Moines, Grace was very active in Prince of Peace Lutheran Church making many life long friends. Cold Iowa winters helped them decide to move to Palm Harbor, FL, in 1982. She loved having family and friends visit her warm home. Grace moved one more time to The Oaks of Clearwater in 2004.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Merle; son, Sidney (Linda) of Palm Harbor, FL; daughter, Sonya (Steve) Hollenbeck of Arnold, MO; 5 grandchildren, Adam (Amanda) Markham of Nashville, TN, Anne (Clint) Walker of High Ridge, MO, Kyle Markham of Louisville, KY, Shannon (Danny) DeFranze of New Port Richie, FL, Shawn Heuton of Tampa, FL; 4 step-grandchildren, Missy (Billy) Karapiperis of Orlando, FL, Chip Hodges of Gainesville, FL, Matt (Beth) Hollenbeck of Greenville, SC, Travis (Melissa) Hollenbeck of Lenexa, KS; 7 great grandchildren, Alexis, Isaiah, Mia, Blake, Dane, Tanner, and Bailey. She is survived by her sister Mary Jo (Glen) Frease of Winterset, IA, brother, Harold Romayne (Marlene) Moorman of Owatonna, MN, brother-in-law Delbert Heuton of Carroll, IA, and sister-in-law Gladys Heuton of Rembrandt, IA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, brother Voshel Moorman, brother-in-laws Virgil Heuton and Arnold Heuton, sister-in-laws Leta Heuton, Jerry Moorman, Mildred Heuton, and Eva Heuton. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Lung Association in Grace’s name.
