Gloria Ellen (Rasmussen) Schrader, age 76, of Carroll, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Hawkeye Care Center in Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Chaplain Peg Scheidt of St. Anthony Regional Hospital officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Pianist for the service will be Sylvia Brinker and soloist will be Rita Heuss. Pall bearers will be Gloria’s grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Kimballton. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to New Hope Village and may be left at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Gloria was born on September 23, 1939 in Exira, Iowa. She was the daughter of Raymond and Ellen (Hansen) Rasmussen. She grew up in Audubon and graduated from Audubon High School in 1958. She was married to John Schrader on August 20, 1960 at the Lutheran Church in Exira. John and Gloria farmed on several farms before moving to Carroll in 1979. Gloria worked for General Electric for 8 years and when they closed she went to work for New Hope Village as a care taker. She enjoyed traveling, baking, and spending time with her family. She loved the New Hope residents she cared for as well. Gloria is survived by a daughter Susan Langbein (Dan) of Carroll; four sons: Jeff Schrader (Penny) of Sioux Falls, SD, Jon Schrader (Teresa) of West Salem, WI, Todd Schrader (Dori) of Atlantic, and Clint Schrader (Roxie) of Adel; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother Wayne Rasmussen (Peggy) of Cedar Rapids; several sisters and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 2005, and a granddaughter.
