Glen "Mike" Michael Balk, age 69, of Sioux City and formerly of Arcadia passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at his home in Sioux City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday until the time of service. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Mike as he was known to most grew up in Arcadia where he attended Ar-We-Va School. Following high school he attended a trade school in Sheldon. He then moved to Sioux City where he worked for Good Will and various restaurants. Mike enjoyed going to movies and spending time with his friends. Mike is survived by five sisters: Georgeen Taylor (Ralph) of Fish Creek, WI, Sue Greving (Duane) of Carroll, Pat Koster (Joe) of Lake City, Barb Koenig (Randy) of Ankeny, and Carolyn Grimsman of Ames; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Betty Koski and Helen Brown.
