Gladys I. Noelck, age 93, Arcadia, Iowa passed away on January 13, 2018 at Accura Healthcare of Carroll.      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia with Pastor Ben Dose officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.  Music will be by Rebecca Dose as organist.  Casket bearers will be Mark Stoelk, Randy Stoelk, Brian Kraus, Alrin Anderson, Tadd Haberl, and Ken Carl.  Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery.      Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Gladys’ family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.      Gladys was born on July 14, 1924 in Scranton, Iowa.  She was the daughter of Andrew and Ethel (Billsborough) Carl.  After graduating from high school, Gladys relocated to California where she was employed by Security First National Bank as a loan secretary.  Her skills, personality and smile were noticed a few years later by the owner of Cadillac Motors, where she became a cashier and office administrator.  On a trip back to Iowa her feet were swept away by a young gentleman, Vernon H. Noelck.  They admired one another and after a long distance romance were married at the Arcadia Lutheran Church by Pastor Frank Sass on Sept. 24, 1961.          While in California, she continued to be close to her sister Dorothea (Taylor) Daley and John.  They enjoyed weekend deep sea fishing off the coast as well as several trips to Wyoming and Montana seeking cutthroat trout.      Gladys was a strong supporter of her husband, Vernon, as he volunteered for several high positions in the American Legion of Arcadia.  Gladys was a Life Member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was the past President of Post #694 in Arcadia, past Carroll County President, and past 8th District President.   Gladys was a Member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was quite active until her ability to walk became a hindrance.  She enjoyed knitting stocking hats for the young children where she was recorded in the production of over 3,000 and always looked forward in helping the children and ladies making quilts.      Gladys is survived from the Carl's: a nephew, Ken Carl (Laureen) of Sandy, Utah; nieces: Janet Jackson of Spokane, Washington and Debra Luteyn of Glendale, Arizona.  From the Noelck's, a niece, Bette Rathjen (Eric) of Arlington, Texas; and nephew, Arlin Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska.      She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Vernon; her sister Dorothea Daley; her brother Walter Carl; and a sister-in-law Violetta Anderson (Virgil).
