Gerald George Billmeier

November 11, 1938 — August 7, 2018

     Gerald “ Jerry” Billmeier, age 79, of Carroll passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Odebolt Nursing and Rehab in Odebolt.      Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Chaplain Angelo Luis of St. Anthony Hospital officiating.  Casket bearers will be his sons: James Billmeier and David Billmeier, his grandsons: Shaun Billmeier and Chris Schroer, his son-in-law Dave Schroer,  and his good friend Dennis Lappe, Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.      Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 - 7 P.M. on Friday evening.  Visitation will resume at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday until the time of service.      In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jerry’s name for a later designation and may be left with the funeral home.      Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home of Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com      Born on November 11, 1938 in Dedham, IA, he was the son of Michael and Clara (Lohman) Billmeier.  Jerry as he was known to most grew up in Dedham where he attended St. Joseph School as a boy and graduated from Carroll High School.  He was married to Laura Meyers on September 19, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dedham.  The couple made their home in Carroll where they raised their four children: Karen, Donna, James, and David.   Lora passed away in 1993 and he was later married to Pamela Farver on August 19, 1994 in Adel, IA.  Jerry worked for Winnike and Masching Oil Company in Carroll.  He was also employed by Iowa Department of Transportation and later for the Carroll County Road Maintenance until his retirement in 2001.  While living in Dedham, Jerry played fast pitch softball for the Dedham Merchants and after moving to Carroll, he played for the several softball teams.  Jerry enjoyed bowling, softball, watching wrestling on television, and following the Minnesota Vikings.       Jerry is survived by his children:  Karen Schroer (Dave) of Bondurant, IA, Donna Magner of Carroll, James Billmeier (Karla) of Carroll, and David Billmeier (Heidi) of Lanesboro; five grandchildren: Shaun, Chris, Kimberly, Joshua, and Ben; his sister Mary Ann Jensen (Barry) of Carroll; his brother Donald Billmeier (Wanda) of Louisiana; and several nieces and nephews.      Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lora and his wife Pam; and his brothers Henry and Larry Billmeier.
