George A. Fry, Jr., age 73, of Carroll passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Alan Miller of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Organist will be Jan Hoff. Casket bearers will be Ralph Von Qualen, Paul Kail, Ron Wenck, Jerry Frehse, Melissa Olberding, and Rylie Riesberg. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of the service. George grew up in Carroll. Following an accident when he was 6 years old, he spent his younger years with his parents and his only brother Charles prior to moving to New Hope Village in Carroll. He was known for riding his bicycle around Carroll and for his incredible sense of humor. George spent a great deal of time conversing with friends on the CB radio and he was known as the “Silver Spur”. George and his long-time special friend, Ruth Helmkemp enjoyed walking around town and visiting different stores. After living at New Hope Village for many years, George moved to Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll in 2005, where he had countless friends. George was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. George is survived by his nephews Mark Fry, Brad (Susan) Fry of Houston, Texas, Anthony Fry, and a niece Crystal Hanson of Fort Dodge, Iowa. George was proceeded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law Charles and Sandy Fry; and his special friend Ruth Helmkemp.
