George F. Batta, age 61, of Omaha, Nebraska, and formerly of Carroll, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Monday. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Born on September 8, 1949 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Franklin and Delores ( Harms ) Batta. He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1969. Following high school he moved to Omaha and worked for Vengers and Pamida as a warehouse manager. He then moved to California and worked for Atlantic Gulf as a welder. He moved back to Carroll in 1989 and worked for AMPC in Lytton as a welder and he then moved back to Omaha and worked for Drake Williams and retired in 2009. George grew up in the Lutheran faith. In his spare time he enjoyed riding his Harley, hunting, and spending time with his family. George was very proud of his boys and his grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons: Jason Batta and his wife Doloris of Leon, Kansas, and Tracy Warnke and his wife Rebecca of Hominy, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren: Kristen, Jordan, Andrew, Christopher, Lindzey, Dylan, Logan, Harley, Haven, and Hero; a brother Rick Batta and his wife Wanda of Lanesboro, Iowa; and two sisters: Anita Sisson and her husband Rick of LeGrand, Iowa, and Vicky Nolte and her husband Keith of Carroll; an aunt Linda Harms of Boyer, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
