Gene Joseph Wiederien, age 80, of Lidderdale , Iowa died unexpectedly at his home on March 4, 2010.
Gene was a lifelong farmer having farmed in the same area all his life. He was born on August 19, 1929 at Carroll , Iowa and was the son of Leo and Florence (Conroy) Wiederien. He was married to Lola Wenck on July 9, 1953 at the Holy Family Rectory in Lidderdale. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to music, playing cards, reading, and dancing.
Gene was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and had sung in the church choir. As a young boy he attended grade school at St. Lawrence Catholic grade school and also at Holy Family Catholic grade school.
Surviving are his wife Lola of Lidderdale; the following children and their spouses: Bonnie Witt and her husband Gary of Manning; Pat Wiederien of Atlantic; Gerald Wiederien and his wife Karol of Carroll; Deb Clausen and her husband Ron of Carroll; Mary Wiederien of Adel; Roger Wiederien of Lewistown, Montana; Jim Wiederien and his wife Jane of West Des Moines; and Joyce Williams and her husband Jon of Urbandale, Iowa; his Grandchildren: Katie, Lucas, and Rachel Witt, Megan, Michelle, and Nathan Allen, Kari, Pam, Amanda, Stacie, and Keith Wiederien. Nicole, Kelsey, Shawn Clausen, Shaelyn Wiederien, Colin, Ashley, and Melanie Wiederien, Allison, Ryan, Eric, and Adam Williams; five Great Grandchildren; two sisters: Rita Kennebeck of Carroll and Bernice Wenck and her husband Bill of Carroll; and a brother Dick Wiederien of Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Paul, his in laws Harry an Hulda Wenck, and a sister Delores in infancy.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 1:30PM Monday March 8, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale with Fr. Timothy Schott as celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30PM on Sunday where there will be a Rosary at 3PM and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30PM by the Holy Family Parish. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery at Lidderdale. Don Nepple will be Lector for Mass and Gift Bearers will be Kari Hamer, Megan Allen, Katie Weitl, Nicole Clausen, Shaelyn Wiederien, Allison Williams and Ashley Wiederien. Eucharistc Ministers will be Don and Bev Nepple. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Ryan Williams, Eric Williams, Adam Williams, Shawn Clausen, Lucas Wit, Nathan Allen, Keith Wiederien, and Colin Wiederien. Grand daughters will be honorary casket bearers Kelsey Clausen, Nicole Clausen, Megan Allen, Michelle Allen, Allison Williams, Katae Weitl, Rachael Witt, Shaelyn Wiederien, Ashley Wiederien, Melanie Wiederien, Pam Sheeder, Kari Hamer, Stacie Wiederien, Amanda Wiederien, and all the great grandchildren.
