Gene Earl Davis

Gene E. Davis, age 70, of Fairborn, Ohio, and formerly of Glidden passed away on Friday February 10, 2017 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association and may be left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on November 16, 1946 in Jefferson, IA, he was the son of Donald and Arlene (Thornton) Davis. He grew up in the Glidden area and graduated from Glidden High School in 1965. Gene enlisted in the United States Airforce following high school and served 20 years and was stationed in many locations all over the world. He was married to Judy Wiebers on September 14, 1968 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll by Msgr. Greteman. Following his military service he was employed by the General Electric Aircraft Division in Cincinnati, OH for 15 years until his retirement. Gene was currently employed by Trulogic in Beaver Creek, OH, writing aircraft manuals for the U.S. military. Gene was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan and loved to go on trips in his RV. Gene is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy (Wiebers) Davis of Fairborn, OH; two daughters: Kim Halsey (Matt) of Kent City, OH, and Karmen Griggs (Dan) of Fairborn, OH; 4 very special grandchildren, Abbi, Ben, Emily, and Ariel; two brothers: Gary Davis (Lindsey) of Greeley, CO, and Gail Davis (Barb) of Waukee, IA; a sister Donna Wiederin (Ron) of Somerset, WI; his best friend Mikey; and numerous family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Don and Arlene Davis.
