Gayle Sharon Bushman

Gayle Sharon (Cochran) Bushman. 80, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at Crestview Specialty Care Center in West Branch. Gayle joined the love of her life Phil, who passed away a short 2 weeks prior.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the Lanesboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Carter-Allen officiating. Casket bearers will be Gayle’s family. Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery near Scranton, IA.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden from 5-7 P.M. on Monday, May 8, 2023. The casket will be moved to the Lanesboro United Methodist Church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.

Gayle was born December 23, 1942 in Churdan, Iowa the daughter of Maurice and Ferne (Harshbarger) Cochran. She was a graduate of Glidden High School. On June 30, 1962 she was united in marriage to Phil Bushman at the Lanesboro United Methodist Church.

After high school graduation, Gayle went to beauty school in Des Moines for 9 months where she received her certification for cosmetology. She owned her own beauty shop in her home for 12 years. Gayle then earned her CNA and worked in the hospital for 12 years. She always wished she had gone to school for nursing but never fulfilled that dream.

Following retirement Phil and Gayle moved from Glidden to Lanesboro to make their home where she enjoyed her continued participation with the Methodist women’s church groups and became involved with the bell choir. Gayle was an avid reader and enjoyed being back in her home town.

Gayle has 2 surviving children; Chris (Cathy Steen) Bushman of West Branch and Kent (Chris) Bushman of LaVista, Nebraska. Grandchildren; Kevin (Holly) Baumhover of Frankfort, Kentucky, Stephanie Baumhover of Cedar Rapids, Elizabeth Baumhover of Iowa City, and Courtney (Richard) Cash of Bellevue, Nebraska. Great grandchildren; Zachary and Jayden Kempker, Jorja Baumhover, and Charlotte, Kenzleigh and Jackson Cash. Extended family including Trisha Folsom (John), Jordyn Ebert and her son Kendrick, Jacob Lundy and his daughter Josie.

She is preceded in death by her husband Phil, her parents, and her brother Gregg.
