Gary Lee Henson

Gary Lee Henson, age 72, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at his home in Coon Rapids.

A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, IA.

Gary was born on February 6, 1951 in Lake City, IA, and was the son of Floyd Harvey and Mary Ellen (McChesney) Henson. He attended school in Lake City and graduated with the High School Class of 1968. On March 24, 1969 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on February 14, 1972. He worked several jobs before attending Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, IA earning his degree in Powerline Technology. He was employed as a lineman with PAR Electric for several years until he retired. He was very active in several area churches, and he devoted his whole life to God.

Gary is survived by his brothers and sisters: Dennis Henson of Arvada, CO, Jeanette Buse-Schoon of Adel, IA, Mary Lou (Keith) Clearwater of Rockwell City, IA, and Roger Henson of Fort Dodge, IA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sister: Terry Henson, Michael Henson, Shelia Schutt, and Billy Dean Henson.
