Gary C. Conklin

Gary Charles Conklin, age 76, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Accura Healthcare of Knoxville in Knoxville, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 26, 2016 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Gary’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on July 6, 1940 in Iowa City, IA. Gary was the son of Burdette and Edith (Dozler) Conklin. His family moved to Templeton when he was a child and he graduated from Dowling High School in Des Moines, Iowa. Following high school, he attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Later he worked with his father on their farms in Carroll, Jones and Johnson County, Iowa. He continued to manage the farming operation until his mother passed away at which point he traveled throughout Iowa and had a career in farm management. Gary was an avid stock trader and followed the markets very closely. Gary is survived by a sister Eileen Conklin of Carroll; a brother-in-law Tony Kellems of Iowa City; and a niece Leah Kellems Davis (Jason) of Orange County, CA. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Burdette and Edith Conklin and a sister Janet Kellems.
