Born in Pawnee County, Kansas, he started farm work at an early age and never lost that work ethic, sense of responsibility, and caring attitude. He was a military veteran, learned electronics when radios still used tubes, and went on to become an avionics technician in Wichita, Kansas. He and his wife of 72 years, Mystel, were active in church, and raised four sons who all went into technical and creative fields. He could pull an engine and rebuild it, build a garage or a brick chimney, pour cement, rewire or roof a house, and always had a project going. He often could be heard whistling happily; he loved his motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife Mystel, of Arcadia, Iowa; sons Lee (Lajean) of Arcadia; Dave of Arcadia; Randy (Janet) of Calhoun, Georgia; Dan (Joyce) of Sedalia, Missouri; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
