Frank E. Prescott

Frank E. Prescott, age 83, of Coon Rapids passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with Pastor Joyce Webb officiating. Visitation will held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from5 – 7 P.M. on Friday evening. The casket will be moved to the church at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Lula Garnes. Casket bearers will be Frank Prescott, David Prescott, Todd Prescott, Brendan Prescott, Troy Prescott, Roger Knute, Nick Knute, and Josh Smouse. Honorary casket bearers will be Frank’s grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burial will be in the Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on December 3, 1931 in Bagley, IA, he was the son of Vinal and Alma (Peardon) Prescott. He grew up in Bagley where he attended school. Frank worked for several local farmers and at the Bagley Lumber Yard. He was married to Charlotte Augustus on February 3, 1952 at the Church of Christ in Coon Rapids. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Coon Rapids where he worked for Garst and Thomas Seed Company for 17 years. He then began farming on his own until he retired in 1995. Frank was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, bird watching, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren. Frank was very creative and an expert at fixing anything that needed repair. He built many bird houses, benches, planters, and bag toss games over the years which are treasured by family and friends. Frank took the family on many trips to Canada and Minnesota over the years. Frank is survived by his wife Charlotte of 63 years of Coon Rapids; a daughter Kris Knute and her husband Roger of Carroll; three sons: Frank Prescott and his wife Jackie of Mt. Vernon, MO, David Prescott and his wife Brenda of Glidden; and Todd Prescott and his special friend Pam of Coon Rapids; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a sister Dora Prescott of San Diego, CA; a brother-in-law Terry Augustus and his wife Mary of Ames; three sisters-in-law: Pat Augustus of Bagley, Loretta Augustus of Clarksville, TX, and Kay Augustus of Carroll; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Bob and Jack and a granddaughter Jill Knute.
