Francis Norbert Bolster, age 82, of Lake City, IA, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 in an auto accident near Breda, IA.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Paul Ferderer officiating. Casket bearers will be Stan Canova III, Mason Hoberman, John Driscoll, Rair vanAanholt, Gracey Bolster, Jeffrey Keen, Andrew Holmes, Logan Holmes, Caleb Holmes, and Tyler Loe. Honorary casket bearers will be Peter Canova and Ryan Bolster. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery near Auburn with military honors conducted by the Arcadia American Legion.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday. The casket will be moved to Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or the Arcadia American Legion and may be left with the funeral home or the church.
Franny, as he was affectionately known to most, was born on April 22, 1943 in Carroll, IA. He was the son of Norbert and Margaret (Wehr) Bolster. He grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1961. Following high school he served in US Navy and then worked for IBP in Denison for over 40 years. Franny loved camping and has camped coast to coast and border to border.
Francis is survived by his wife Jeanette; his children: daughter Lisa (Floyd) Baum, daughter Kim Woltman, daughter Wendy (Mike Bueltel) Canova, son Rodney (Dawn) Bolster; Jeanette’s children: son Donn (Sarah) Holmes, son Jay (Amy) Holmes, and son Phillip (Heather) Holmes; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister MaryAnn (Danny) Moore; Jeanette’s siblings and families; and many nieces and nephews. Fran is also survived by his step-children: Kim (Jons) Cox, Kellie (Jons) Schiernbeck.
Francis was joyfully welcomed into heaven by his grandson Peter Canova; his parents Norbert and Margaret Bolster; and his in-laws Wilmer and Rosina O’Tool.
