Frances Patricia Sprimont, age 76, of Dayton, IA, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Paula J. Barber Hospice Home in Ft. Dodge. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Rev. Brian Camara of First Presbyterian Church in Glidden Officiating. Organist for the service will be Marlys Conner and soloist will be Mary Ross. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. Casket bearers will be Michael Gatewood, Jacob Sprimont, Jason Gatewood, Joshua Gatewood, Virgil Bechtel, and Brayden Bechtel. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on March 17, 1939 in Yakima, WA, she was the daughter of Tarbox Gamaliel and Margaret Langdon (Taylor) Short. She grew up in Port Orchard, WA, where she attended school. She was married to Kenneth Sprimont on September 30, 1956 at the Naval Chapel in Bremerton, WA. The couple lived in California and several other locations while Ken served in the US Marine Corps. Fran and Ken moved to Kansas City, KS, following his service in the military. Frances was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed traveling, plants and flowers, spending time with her family, and she loved her dog Goldie. Fran was a faithful donor to many charities that were dear to her heart, especially the SPCA. Fran is survived by her husband Ken of 59 years of Dayton; a daughter Tammy Gatewood of Pittsburg, MO; two sons Timothy Sprimont and his wife Cathy of Shawnee, KS, and Greg Sprimont and his wife Leigh of Port Charlotte, FL; seven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; five sisters: Margaret Murphy of Vancouver, WA, Mary Ray and her husband Billy of Tuscaloosa, AL, Carol Dunlap of Long View, TX, Christine Davis of Port Orchard, WA, and Cynthia Schaefer and her husband Mike of Toledoo, WA; two brothers: Bill Short and his wife Carol of Eatonville, WA, and Mike Short and his wife Pat of Silverdale, WA; two sisters-in-law: Sherry Pierce of Sac City and Virginia Hoffman of Grand Meadow, MN; a brother-in-law Duane Sprimont and his wife Donna of Irving, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fran was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Benjamin and Gary Short, and a great granddaughter Taylor Turner.
