Frances Marcella Owen

Frances Marcella Owen, age 96, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Regency Park of Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.  Casket bearers will be Matt Owen, Mike Owen, Megan Owen, Quentin Buswell, Brooke Mikkelsen, and Mariah Teague.  Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 1 – 2 P.M. on Monday prior to the service.

Fran, as she was known to most, was born on June 1, 1928 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Henry and Clara (Schulte) Lehrter.  She grew up in Mt. Carmel and Carroll.  She was married to Lewis Owen on November 13, 1946 in Carroll.  Fran worked at the Carroll Egg Plant, AMF in Jefferson, and General Electric in Carroll.  She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish.  She enjoyed crafts, collecting keepsakes, decorating for the holidays, embroidery, and spending time with her family.

Fran is survived by three children: Dan Owen (Diane) of Carroll, Dave Owen of Scranton, and Donna Haley of Carroll; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; five sisters: Dorothy Kramer of Carroll, Joann Petersen of Carroll, Stella Mohr of Carroll, Shirley Miller of Carroll, and Clara Lehrter of Carroll; a sister-in-law Lynette Lehrter of Carroll; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband Lewis in 1995; two daughters Connie Owen in 1992 and Kathy Buswell in 2017; a son Larry Owen in 2021; her parents Henry and Clara Lehrter; her mother and father-in-law Henry and Henrietta Owen; three sisters: Leona Daisy (Ed), Lucille Butler, and Mary Lehrter; and two brothers: Al Lehrter and Henry Lehrter.
