Floyd "Jake" Leo Jacobsen, age 88, of Harlan, Iowa, and formerly of Coon Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Avoca Lodge Assisted Living in Avoca, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 - 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids. Casket bearers will be Kyle Hilgenberg, Cole Hilgenberg, Kevin Rowray, Tim Johnston, Bob Johnston, and Brandon Johnston. Burial will be held Saturday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. in the Scranton Township Cemetery.

Jake was born on September 20, 1937 in Bayard, Iowa, and he was the son of Harry and Mary (Loefler) Jacobsen. He attended Bayard Community School before transferring and graduating from the Coon Rapids High School.  After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marines Corps where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California until he was honorably discharged. Jake returned to Coon Rapids and was united in marriage to Linda Farrell in Carroll, Iowa, and they were blessed with two loving daughters Jill and Jacque. The couple later divorced. He worked several places in Coon Rapids before moving to Oklahoma City in 1982 with his significant other Betty Johnston. He was employed as a maintenance man in Oklahoma City until he retired in 2021 when they moved back to Harlan, Iowa. Jake enjoyed cheering on Iowa State Football and putting up Christmas lights. He loved taking care of his lawn and his yard was always very well maintained. In his spare time, you could often find him watching westerns movies with Gunsmoke being a favorite.

Jake is survived by his wife Betty Johnston of Harlan, Iowa; daughters: Jill Jacobsen of Coon Rapids and Jacque Rowray (Kevin) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Kyle Hilgenberg (Monica), Melea Hilgenberg, Cole Hilgenberg (Erica) all of Cedar Rapids; his precious great-granddaughter Sophia Hilgenberg; two sisters, Joy Barsby and Linda Whitecotton; his companion dog Bret Maverick; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Jake is preceded in death by granddaughter Karli Hilgenberg; his parents; his in-laws, Raymond and Mildred Johnston; his brothers and sisters: Kay Vaux, Judy Gust, Mark Jacobsen, and Phil Jacobsen.
