Born on June 8, 1926 on her family’s farm northwest of Westside, IA, she was the daughter of George and Helga (Alquist) Dreessen. She grew up on the farm and attended Jackson no. 5 country school in Crawford County. Florence was married to Harry Rose on April 12, 1952 at the Presbyterian Church in Vail, IA. Florence lived with her parents their first year of marriage while Harry served in United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, they lived on the Snappy Popcorn farm near Breda where Harry worked and Florence was a homemaker. They then moved northwest of Audubon where they farmed for three years. In 1957, they moved to a farm northeast of Glidden and in 1986 they moved to their current location east of Carroll where they have farmed for the past 33 years. She babysat for several Glidden area families over the years, and was the bookkeeper for their business, Rose Equipment. Florence was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, cooking, playing cards, crafts, socializing with friends, going to dances, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale and was also a member of the Mother’s Club.
