Fern Fielder

Mrs. Fern Marjorie Schelldorf Fielder age 88 of Carroll Iowa and formerly of the Glidden area died at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll on December 4, 2008 . She died following a long illness. Fern was a retired farm wife having lived on a farm east of Glidden before retiring and moving to Carroll. She was born on March 7, 1920 at Westside, Iowa and was the daughter of John Franklin and Wilhelmina Gerstner Schelldorf. Fern was married to Leslie Mac Fielder on October 10, 1942 at Santa Ana, Calif. As a young girl she attended Westside Schools and graduated in 1937 and then attended AIB in Des Moines, Iowa graduating in 1942. In her spare time she enjoyed dancing, playing cards, watching birds and enjoying the out doors, cross word puzzles, baking , cooking and traveling. She was a member of the Arcadia Presbyterian Church until it closed Surviving are 4 daughters : Carol Nevenhoven and her husband Larry of Temecula, Calif, Michelle Hilsabeck and her husband Dan of Murrieta, Calif., Rebecca Erickson of Ames, Iowa and Robyn Drake and her husband Matthew Stover of Kenosha, Wisconsin and a son Steve Fielder and his wife Emy of Severna Park, Md., 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband , a son Bruce, a sister Violette Green and a brother Elmer Schelldorf Funeral Service will be a 7PM on Friday December 5, 2008 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with the Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzsimmons of the First Presbyterian Church of Carroll officiating.Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5PM on Friday . Interment will be in the Westside Cemetery at 10:30 AM Sat morning. Pianist for the funeral will be Mrs. Ellen Severin and Mr. Skip Raridon will sing. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in memory of Fern and memorials may be left at the funeral home.
