Evelyn Caroline, daughter of Albert John and Mary Magdalene (Broich) Beyerink, was born February 19, 1928, on the family farm near Willey, Iowa. She attended school in Willey and completed her schooling at Annunction School in Coon Rapids. Evelyn then helped raise her six brothers and sisters.
On September 10, 1946, Evelyn was united in marriage with Clarence Orville Gute at the Catholic rectory in Coon Rapids. Two sons were born to this union. The family lived in northwest Coon Rapids for a short time when they were able to rent a farm place of their own. Evelyn also did various farm and household chores for area families. Throughout the years, she worked at Ocoma Foods in Carroll, the Glidden Egg Plant, the Hybrid plant and Thomas Rest Haven.
Evelyn was an active member of Annunciation Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and caring for her home. After she suffered a stroke, she passed her time working picture puzzles and enjoying telephone calls. Through her life, Evelyn was able to be comfortable and satisfied on limited resources. As long as she knew her family was happy and okay, Evelyn could rest easy and sleep peaceably.
In 2010, Evelyn became a resident of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapdis, where she passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013. She was 84 years of age.
