Evelyn Jean Carty

Evelyn Jean Carty, age 91, of Glidden, IA, passed away on March 17, 2024 at Accura Healthcare of Carroll.

A private graveside service will be held at the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden.

Evelyn was born on November 29, 1932 in Princeton, IL, and was the daughter of Arthur and Louise (Roman) Johnson.  Evelyn’s family lived in Illinois when she was young and they moved to Iowa when she was 15.  She graduated from Emmetsberg High School in 1950.  Following high school she attended the Iowa Beauty School in Des Moines.  She was married to James Carty in 1951 in Ames. She operated a beauty shop in her home.  The couple moved to Glidden in 1994 where Evelyn worked as a waitress.  She was a member of the Glidden United Methodist Church.  Evelyn enjoyed gardening and always raised a big garden.

Evelyn is survived by two nieces and one nephew.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law; and her husband James Carty; and her son Jack Carty.
