Eva Mae Heuton, age 80, of Glidden, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 05, 2010 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday to lie in state until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Linda Dern and the congregation will sing. Casket bearers will be Eva’s grandchildren and spouses: Damion and Maria Hackett, Tyson Heuton, Stephanie and Todd Buse, Nathan Heuton, and Taylor Hackett. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Born on September 15, 1929 at Carroll, Iowa, she was the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Piper) Blum. She grew up in Glidden and graduated from Glidden High School in 1948. She was married to Delbert Heuton on November 20, 1955 at St. John Lutheran Church in Glidden. The couple farmed north east of Glidden. In her younger years Eva worked at the Glidden Creamery and later she was a cook at the Glidden-Ralston School for 20 years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden and the American Legion Auxiliary. Eva enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, and spending time with family. She also enjoyed the many Glidden activities surrounding her husband’s 21 years as mayor of Glidden. Surviving are her husband Delbert; a daughter Jerilyn Hoppy and her husband Gary of Interlaken, New York; a daughter Jacquelyn Hackett and her husband Randy of Glidden; a son Jeffrey Heuton and his wife Patti of Glidden; five grandchildren: Damion Hackett and his wife Maria of Ankeny, Tyson Heuton of DesMoines, Stephanie Buse and her husband Todd of Carroll, Nathan Heuton of Carroll, and Taylor Hackett of Glidden; a sister-in-law Esterline Blum of Carroll; a brother-in-law Merle Heuton and his wife Grace of Clearwater, Florida; a sister-in-law Gladys Heuton of Rembrandt, Iowa, and a sister-in-law Mildred Heuton of Grimes. She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin sister Evelyn Jensen, and a brother Bernard Blum.
