Eva Mae Gustoff, age 91, of Jefferson, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Greene County Long Term Care in Jefferson. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, October 16, 2107 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton with Pastor Bob McKnight officiating. Casket bearers will be Donald Gustoff, Gary Forkner, Duane Forkner, Terry Gustoff, Edward Forkner, and Jon Forkner. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday. Born on August 30, 1926 in Greene County, she was the daughter of James and Nadine (Stewart) Spaulding. Eva Mae attended country school in Adaza, Iowa as a girl. She was married to Dale Edgar Forkner on January 31, 1945. To this union, five children were born: Gary Lee, Barbara Ann, David James, Jay Dean, and Edward Paul. Dale passed away on February 7, 1956. Eva Mae married Jack Gustoff on August 16, 1962. They made their home in Scranton. She worked at Ocoma Foods, Farmland, and Chicago Rivet as well as the family salvage yard. She was an excellent cook and was well-known for her potato salad. Eva is survived by her daughter: Barbara Ann Hilts of Jefferson; her sons: David James Forkner (Janet) of Scranton and Jay Dean Forkner (Laura) of Scranton; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Rosa Anne Huffman and Maudie Ganoe of Jefferson; brothers: Jerry Spaulding of Jefferson and Frank Spaulding of Des Moines. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; sons: Gary and Edward Forkner; son-in-law Kenny Hilts; grandson: Jeffery Forkner; granddaughters: Jay Ann Butler and Angela Forkner; great-grandson: Steven Hall; brothers: Bill, Jimmy, Cris and Norman Spaulding; and sisters: Lovala Bailey, Iola Bonnette, Mary Lou Spaulding and Janet Spaulding.
