Eugene “Geno” Joseph Eifler, age 76, of Carroll, Iowa passed away on Monday, February 11, 2008 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Born on November 12, 1931 at Carroll, Iowa he was the son of Ignatius and Emma (Nelson) Eifler. He served in the Army and was stationed in Ft. Reiling, Kansas for two years. He was a 1952 graduate of Carroll High School where he played football . He was married to Coralie Ellsworth on July 8, 1953 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church by Msgr. Greteman. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. Geno enjoyed spending time with his family and being with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife Coralie of Carroll; a son Mike Eifler and his wife Mindy of Carroll; a daughter Sherri Fee and her husband Kevin of Marion, Iowa; a son Brian Eifler and his wife Rene of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; a son Chuck Eifler and his wife Jenni of Zearing, Iowa; a son Scott Eifler and his wife Alane of Desoto, Kansas; a daughter Karen Gehling and her husband Terry of Carroll; 14 grandchildren: Stephanie Eifler, Samantha Eifler, Christopher Fee, Dustin Fee, Tyler Fee, Erin Campbell, Zacharie Eifler, Emily Eifler, Keith Eifler, Gabe Eifler, Sharleen Troutman, Mathew Messinger, Taylor Gehling, and Casey Gehling; 4 great grandchildren: Jayden, Jace, Olivia, and Peyton; two sisters: Lori Reetz and her husband Phil of Eagle Grove, Iowa and Judy Campbell of Eagle Grove, Iowa; a brother Joe Eifler of Oklahoma; and a sister in law Dorothy Smith of Edina, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Heller, and brothers Donald Eifler and Verlin in infancy.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, February 15, 2008 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with Rev. Timothy Schott as Celebrant. Lector for the mass will be Kevin Fee and gift bearers will be his grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a rosary at 3:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:30 P.M. by the parish. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors by the Carroll American Legion.
