Estherline Rose Blum, age 90, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Regency Park in Carroll surrounded by her family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Schott as Celebrant. Gift Bearers will be Fitz Hawkins and Liam Patterson. Lector for the Mass will be Mark Beardmore. Eucharistic Minister will be Pam Beardmore. Music for the Mass will be by Kathy Halbur, Kathleen Macke, and Emily Beardmore. Casket bearers will be Bryan Linde, Nicholas Linde, Geoff Biehle, and Lucas Hawkins. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Tuesday. There will be a Rosary at 5:30 P.M. during the visitation. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where additional visitation will be held until 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

Estherline was born on October 6, 1933 in Carroll, IA. She was the daughter of Mike and Mary (Danner) Hoffmann. Her family moved to Willey when she was seven years old. Her father passed away when she was fourteen and the family moved back to Carroll. Estherline graduated from St. Angela's Academy in 1951. Following high school she worked at Paul and Wayne's and Community Oil. Estherline was married to Bernard Blum of Glidden on October 17, 1953 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll by Fr. Arthur Poeckes. The couple made their home in Glidden for several years before moving to Eagle Grove where Bernie worked for Fareway Grocery Stores. Bernie passed away on May 2, 1958 and Estherline moved back to Carroll with her two daughters. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish where she was active with the Ladies Guild. She was also active with the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. Estherline made her home at Regency Park in Carroll for the past two years where she received excellent care.
Estherline is survived by her daughter Vicki Linde (Brad) of Carroll; five grandchildren: Elizabeth Hawkins (Luke) of Omaha; Bryan Linde (Amanda) of Dodge Center, MN, Nicholas Linde (Kasey) of Lincoln, NE, Geoffrey Biehle (Tori) of Amarillo, TX, and Amanda Patterson of Council Bluffs; her great-grandchildren: Fitzgerald, Charlotte, Juliette, Liam, Rory, Finn, Reese, Landon, and Henrik; and many nieces and nephews.
Estherline was preceded in death by her parents Mike and Mary Hoffmann; her mother and father-in-law Clarence and Ruth Blum; her husband Bernard; her daughter Deanna Biehle and her husband Jon; a sister Delores “Dee” Heath Pitney; and her in-laws: Louis and Evelyn Jenson, Delbert and Eva Heuton, James Heath and Bill Pitney.
