Esta Nielsen

Esta Neoma Nielsen, age 97, of Carroll, Iowa, died on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Carroll, Iowa. A private funeral service will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll wit Pastor Dennis Bailey of First United Methodist Church in Carroll officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery near Audubon. Public visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 6 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday. Esta was the daughter of Robert W. and Ota L. (Swart) Feltner. Esta’s grandparents were John F. Feltner and Mary E. Hunt Feltner and William M. Swart and Adeline (Reese) Swart. Esta was born on July 18, 1913 at Audubon, Iowa. She was educated in the Audubon schools and graduated from Audubon High School in 1931. She was married to Ras C. Nielsen on December 15, 1934 at Maryville, Missouri. Esta was a member of the Methodist Church and also a past member of the Rebekah Lodge of Carroll. Esta enjoyed many hobbies and activities. She especially liked genealogy (family history) and bird-watching and walking. Surviving are a son – Larry R. Nielsen of Carroll, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and a husband, Ras C. Nielsen in 1967.
