Eric Michel Ramsey, age 52, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 17, 2026 at the First Presbyterian Church in Glidden with Pastor Rick Hamilton officiating. Casket bearers will be Kurt Pfannkuch, Kent Pfannkuch, Todd Ramsey, and Renee Willenborg. Honorary casket bearers will be Bjørn Øktedalen and Nadia Øktedalen. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday. The casket will be moved to the First Presbyterian Church in Glidden at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.
Memorials are suggested to be given to the Client Special Needs Fund at New Hope Village in Eric’s name.

Eric Michel Ramsey was born on April 25, 1974, to Lynn Dean and Kathleen Ramsey at Homestead Air Force Base in Homestead, Florida. He grew up traveling with his family to many US Air Force bases including Weisbaden, Germany, Abilene, Texas, Omaha, Nebraska and Colorado Springs, Colorado. When his father retired from the US Air Force in 1988, Eric moved back to Carroll, Iowa with his family.
Eric attended Carroll High School and graduated with the Class of 1993. After living in Granger, Iowa for a short time he moved to one of New Hope Village’s group homes in Carroll in 1995. He worked through New Hope’s job program until his retirement in 2023. Eric attended New Hope’s day-hab program until April of 2026. He then moved to the Friendship Haven Nursing Home in Audubon, where he lived until his passing on July 11, 2026, after a short illness.
Eric had a deep love of animals, especially his dogs. Eric had a mischievous sense of humor and loved a good laugh. He had a passion for 80s music and insisted they be played on the car radio whenever he traveled with his parents. Eric loved watching movies and owned many films. Eric enjoyed many activities with his housemates and staff. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and camping at Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines. He also took many trips with the Special Journeys program, where he enjoyed fishing, swimming and travelling. Eric was very close with his family and enjoyed spending time at home on weekends and camping with his parents.
Eric is survived by his parents, Lynn Dean and Kathleen (Linn) Ramsey of Templeton, Iowa, as well as his sister Heather (Ramsey) Øktedalen and brother-in-law Øve Øktedalen of Nore, Norway. He is also survived by his nephew Bjørn and his niece Nadia Øktedalen as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John “Jack” and Edna Ramsey and his maternal grandparents, Dale and Colleen Linn; two uncles: John Jr. “Jackie” and Charles “Tub” Ramsey.
