Elva Norene Rohrbeck

February 22, 1926 — January 25, 2019

Elva Norene Rohrbeck, 92 age, of Glidden passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in St. Cloud, MN.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating.  Organist for the service will be Becky Miller.  Casket bearers will be Reggy, Monty,Jody, Tyler, Jason and Dusty Rohrbeck. Honary Casket bearers will be Joey and Jeremy Williams, Kurtis and Kristin Rohrbeck, John Pedersen and Ron Breidert. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.

Visitation will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden from 12:00 P.M. on Saturday until the time of service.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for Elva's family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Elva was born February 22, 1926, in Audubon County, Iowa to Elmer and Lena (Faga) Carstens.  She was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa.  She attended Audubon County country school and then completed a home study Secretarial college course through the Commercial Extension of Omaha. Elva started working at the Corner Café in Jefferson and later went to work at the Jefferson Telephone Company.  On September 2, 1951, Elva married Marland Rohrbeck, farming for 28 years before retiring.  After retiring Elva, moved into Glidden and lived there for 38 years, before moving to Minnesota in 2013 to live with her daughter.  Elva and Marland became crafters and traveled around Iowa and Minnesota to different craft fairs.  She also worked at the Coon Rapids Seed Corn plant.  Elva was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher.  She was a member of LWML, the sewing circle and proudly helped sew hundreds of quilts over the years.  Elva enjoyed sewing, crafting, playing cards, fishing, reading, ice cream and desserts, spending time with her grandchildren and with Max, the family cockapoo.

Elva is survived by her sister, Lois Rohrbeck of Carroll, IA; daughter, Brenda Williams of St. Cloud, MN; three grandsons: Jeremy Williams of St. Cloud, MN, Joseph Williams of Denver, CO, and Kurtis (Dawn) Rohrbeck of Halbur, IA; a granddaughter Krisitn Rohrbeck and her mother Denise of Lidderdale, IA; a great-grandson Olyver Bayerl of Monticello, MN; two great granddaughters: Briley and Sawyer Rohrbeck of Halbur, IA; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Elva was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Lena Carstens, infant brother Dale Carstens, husband Marland Rohrbeck, son Brian Rohrbeck, brothers-in-law Bud and Art Rohrbeck, sister-in-law Cleora Rohrbeck, and brother and sister-in-law Ed and Leota Pedersen.
