Mrs. Eloise Morlan, age 95, of Cedar Falls, Iowa and formerly of Scranton, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Church of Christ in Scranton with Pastor Bob McKnight officiating. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Laura McKnight and vocalists will be Ron Morlan and the Conditt family. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 P.M. on Saturday until the time of service. Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery near Scranton. Born on July 23, 1917 at Churdan, Iowa, she was the daughter of Wilmer and Lottie (Tharp) Cochran. She was married to Edward Morlan on September 16, 1940 at the home of her parents. Eloise graduated from Churdan High School in 1935 and then attended Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa where she received her teaching certificate. Eloise taught school for three years before her marriage. The Morlan’s lived in Cedar Township, Greene County from 1945 until 1979 where they farmed. In 1979 they moved to Scranton where they lived until the time of Edward’s death. The Morlan’s were members of the Scranton Friends Church for many years until its closing. Eloise was a 4-H leader, a member of the Scranton Heritage Club and Neighborhood Birthday Club. Eloise moved to Cedar Falls in 2004 and has made her home at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center since October of 2010. Eloise is survived by a son Ken Morlan and his wife Carol of Cedar Falls; a daughter: Elaine Snyder and her husband Darrel of Corte Madera, California; four grandchildren: Cheryl Nuttall and her husband James of Alameda, California, Greg Snyder and wife Ronnie of Novato, California, Kristine Conditt and her husband Paul of Cedar Falls, and Ronald Morlan and his wife Karen of Cedar Falls; and eight great grandchildren: Shelby, Abigail, Isaac, Andrew, Lauren, Lyle, Leah, and Alexis. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward, three sisters: Ruth Loudenback, Cleopha Kinnan, and Wilma Hamilton and a brother Maurice Cochran.
