Elizabeth Ann Jones

Elizabeth Ann Jones, age 57, of Carroll passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at her home in Carroll.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 9, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher officiating.  Organist for the service will be Ellen Severin and soloist will be Jake Gute.  Casket bearers will be Chris Hofstetter, Dr. Michael Jones, Peter Semla, Michelle Jones, Amy Vankat, and Ben Jones.  Honorary casket bearers will be Jim Knott, Norman Hutchinson, Emmett Lahr, Steve Nuckles, Steve Hodges, Dr. Greg Perkins, and Bill Foval.   Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in Elizabeth’s name for a later designation and memorials may be left with the funeral home or at the church to the Elizabeth Jones Memorial Fund.

Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M.  The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until the time of service.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.

Born on August 8, 1961 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of Donald and Joan (Reifschneider) Jones.  Elizabeth grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1979.  She attended Iowa State University where she earned a B.S. in Anthropology.  She then went Case Western University in Cleveland, OH, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Gerontology.  She also earned her Master’s Degree in Native American Studies from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.  After living in the eastern United States for several years, Elizabeth moved back to Carroll where she lived with her mother.  Elizabeth and Jody became a team helping each other and sharing in life’s many adventures.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll and Chapter E.B. - P.E.O.  Elizabeth enjoyed traveling with her mom.  They went to Alaska, France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Estonia, Holland, Russia, Finland, and Sweden.  She had a kind and loving heart and especially loved her dog Molly.

Elizabeth is survived by her mother Joan “Jody” of Carroll; three sisters: Carolyn Jones of Iowa City, Laurie Vasquez of Chandler, AZ, Susan Semla (Todd) of Evanston, Ill; her brother Philip Jones (Patricia) of Egan, MN; her aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandparents and father Donald Jones in 2011.
