Eleanora "Nora" Soyer

Eleanora (Nora) H. Soyer, age 100, of Glidden passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Accura Health Care Center in Carroll.       Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 26, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with Fr. John Gerald as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be Nora’s daughter Judy Blessington.  Gift bearers will be Nora’s daughters: Rose Quinlan and Lynda Humlicek.  Casket bearers will be grandsons: Scott Soyer, Brian Blessington, Chuck King, Chris Soyer, Sean Soyer, Brent Soyer, Justin Soyer, and Jon Soyer.  Honorary casket bearers will be granddaughters: Jen Sibbitt, Joni DeVries, Jacque Blessington, Emily Loew, Katlyn Humlicek and Julia Bourg.      Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery by Glidden.      Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 3:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Rosary at 3:30 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 5:00 P.M.  The casket will be moved to St. Elizabeth Seton Church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until the Mass at 10:30.       Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for Nora’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com      Born on September 30, 1917 on her family’s farm near Templeton, she was the daughter of Otto Sr. and Hedwig (Kraus) Prebeck.  Nora grew up in Templeton where she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School.  She was married to Joseph Soyer on November 23, 1937.  The couple made their home on a farm east of Willey.  They later moved to a farm near Carroll in 1943 and to the farm near Glidden in 1950.  To this union were born seven children: Norman, Larry, Judy, Rose, Tom, and twins Lynda and Lynn.  Nora was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, and putting Puzzles together, but most of all, she loved to be surrounded by her family.  She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church.       Nora is survived by six children and their families: Norman Soyer (Jane) of Glidden, Larry Soyer (Elaine) of Glidden, Judy Blessington of West Des Moines, Rose Quinlan (Jim Spooner) of Lakeland, FL, Tom Soyer (Shelley) of Glidden, and Lynda Humlicek (Tim) of Ames; seventeen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.      Nora was preceded in death by her parents Otto Sr. and Hedwig Prebeck; her husband Joseph; her father and mother-in-law Peter Sr. and Mary Soyer; two sisters: Ann Hicks (George) and Marie Lang (Lambert); four brothers: Otto Jr., twins John and Joseph and Alphonse (Allie) Prebeck; a son: Lynn Soyer; and three grandsons: Jessie and Joey Soyer and Jeff Soyer.
